German as a foreign language – courses offered by the International Career Service

The International Career Service is offering for the international students enrolled at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg German courses starting from the first level A1 until the level B2. The main goal is to support the integration process of international students living in Germany by improving their communication and therefore reduce the language barrier. This is an incredible opportunity especially for students who are planning on staying in Germany after the graduation, since this will boost their CV when applying for job applications and facilitate the communication with future colleagues.

In a nutshell:

  • You are currently enrolled at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg (bachelor and master) and would like to improve your communication in the German language
  • You are willing to invest time and effort in learning German to help your integration process and support your future plans in staying in Germany and finding a suitable job
  • You are committed to use this opportunity and take your studies very seriously. It means participating actively in the classes and not missing any content if not only for serious matters.

German language courses – DaF | Courses starting in August 2025 (Intensive & during the semester)*

*We only offer German courses as complete levels, e.g. A1.1 (intensive) + A1.2 (during the semester). Therefore, it is NOT possible to enrol in only one part of the course. ALL of the courses start with the first part, e.g. A1.1.

Registration deadline: August 22, 2025

 

Placement test appointment: 23 July, 2025 | 11 am

I kindly ask you to carefully read all the information about the placement test available on the Language Centre´s website and then register for an appointment on Moodle.

 

Important: 

If you have completed a German course at the university's Language Centre (meaning a full level, e.g. A1.1 + A1.2) and wish to switch to the courses offered by the International Career Service, you do not need to take a placement test. However, in order for us to verify your language level and register you, we must receive your certificate from the Language Centre. Without this certificate, we unfortunately cannot admit you to the course.
