Veranstaltung: Fit for Proposal Writing in Horizon Europe: Pathway to Impact – Hands-on Workshop
Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg, Stabsstelle Forschungsförderberatung/ EU-Hochschulnetzwerk Sachsen-Anhalt
Is the ‘Pathway to Impact’ a hard-to-grasp concept for you? In this training session, we make it tangible. Hosted by the National Contact Point Bioeconomy and Environment, this workshop provides a clear understanding of impact logics using practical examples from Cluster 6 (“Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment”) and demonstrates how to derive impacts logically and convincingly. You will receive a concise introduction to the topic, followed by an interactive group exercise to apply and deepen what you have learned.
This workshop is designed for applicants and interested parties focusing on Cluster 6 in Horizon Europe. However, since the core concepts covered are applicable across all programs, the event offers clear added value for anyone looking to submit successful proposals in Horizon Europe.
The workshop will be organized by the EU Academic Network Saxony-Anhalt together with the National Contact Point Bioeconomy and Environment

Vortrag: Dr. Marius Müller "The(?) biharmonic Alt-Caffarelli problem"
Insitut für Analysis und Numerik
Am 19.11.2026 hält Herr Dr. Marius Müller (Universität Augsburg) im Rahmen des Oberseminars Geometrie und Analysis einen Vortrag zum Thema:
The(?) biharmonic Alt-Caffarelli problem
Abstract:
The classical Alt–Caffarelli problem concerns the minimization of a functional consisting of two competing terms: the Dirichlet energy and the Lebesgue measure of the positivity set. Minimizers must balance out these competing interests -- low variation against adhesion to the zero level on a large set.
In this talk, we investigate what happens when the Dirichlet energy is replaced by the biharmonic energy. The resulting loss of the maximum principle gives rise to several new and surprising phenomena, which we will explore.
I will present results on the regularity and geometry of minimizers and discuss their optimality. Moreover, we will study regularity and optimal shape of the zero level sets. Finally, we will take a closer look at the blow-up behavior of minimizers near their zero level sets.
Many of these results are from joint work with Hans-Christoph Grunau.

Vortrag: Prof. Dr. Julian Scheuer "Survey on fully nonlinear curvature flows and applications"
Institut für Analysis und Numerik
Am 19.11.2026 hält Herr Prof. Dr. Julian Scheuer (Goethe Universität Frankfurt) im Rahmen des Oberseminars Geometrie und Analysis einen Vortrag zum Thema:
Survey on fully nonlinear curvature flows and applications
Abstract:Curvature flows have been one of the key subjects in geometric analysis for almost half a century, with striking applications in other fields of geometry. They all share the property of being partial differential equations. The famous mean curvature flow is a quasi-linear example, but also fully nonlinear flows have allowed applications for example in convex geometry, in particular for isoperimetric type inequalities.
In this talk we survey the historical motivation to study these flows and give a few very recent highlights and developments, especially in the context of spherical geometry.
