On 6 June 2020, three of the most important and largest events should take place at the University of Magdeburg: The Alumni Day, the Long Night of Science and the study information day. Due to the current situation, these unfortunately have to be cancelled or redesigned. In a circular mail the Rector, Prof. Strackeljan, informed about the further procedure and new dates.
In the week before the start of studies, the university traditionally holds the introductory days to make it easier to get started. Due to the current corona pandemic, all classroom teaching will be suspended until at least April 20, 2020. For this purpose, all faculties will provide helpful information on the course of study online.
The corona pandemic raises many questions among students about the summer semester. The Rector, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jens Strackeljan and the Prorector for Studies and Teaching, Prof. Franziska Scheffler, have informed about the current status and answered questions in a live chat.
Due to the current risk of infection and the lower number of employees and students present, the entrance doors of the buildings on the campus of the University of Magdeburg are locked all day. Employees will still have access to their service building with their transponder.
Building 6 is an exception for the time being, which means that the validation station for the student chip card is accessible.
According to the academic year schedule, the summer semester begins on April 1, 2020, with the exception of the attendance courses, which will not take place until at least April 20, 2020.
In the LSF students will find as usual all courses offered for their study programs in the summer semester. Enrollment in these courses must be completed by the enrollment deadline - usually April 6, 2020. The format of the course depends on various factors.
