Objectives

The Master's degree programme in "Industrial Engineering and Management for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology" is a university-based engineering degree programme that builds consecutively on the Bachelor's degree programme of the same name and takes into account modern developments in the fields of electrical engineering, electronics and information technology as well as economics. Graduates are qualified to work independently in selected fields of electrical engineering, information technology, microsystems technology and economics. The Master's programme focuses on the independent application of engineering and economic methods. Students are enabled to participate in the scientific development of their subject, to prepare scientific facts and either to further qualify themselves in a subsequent doctoral phase or to independently carry out corresponding development and research work in the management of industry or in research institutions and to take on management tasks. In addition to specialist knowledge, the ability to understand connections between different disciplines, to consider the consequences of the application of knowledge and to recognise the responsibility of science for society is also taught. To achieve the study objective, the foundations laid in the Bachelor's programme are deepened during the Master's programme by offering students freely selectable focal points (options). These focal points represent a continuation in terms of content of the options already introduced in the Bachelor's degree. Parallel to the scientific-technical training, students are taught key competences within the framework of project work and laboratory practicals.
