The Acting Chancellor is a member of the Rectorate and conducts the business of the University administration. She is responsible for economic and personnel administration.

The staff of the Legal Office (K-R) provides legal services to the university management, the faculties, the central university administration and the central institutions in all matters concerning the OVGU. The Legal Office reports directly to the Chancellor.

Since January 1, 2006, Magdeburg University Hospital has been a legally capable institution under public law (A.ö.R.) of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. Accordingly, Magdeburg University Medical Center consists of Magdeburg University Hospital as a public law institution and the Medical Faculty of the University of Magdeburg. Both have different legal statuses and perform their joint tasks in a cooperation model. In Magdeburg University Medical Center, research, teaching and patient care are therefore inseparably linked.
