Yes, the Career Certificate program is funded by the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst). Therefore, we are able to offer it free of cost for all the international students of the OVGU.
There are 25 slots available for this course.
Several criteria determine on whether an applicant get accepted to this program or not. First of all, you need to be an international Bachelor or Master student. Your German proficiency should be at least A2 level.
As this program is tailored towards those, who want to stay and work in Magdeburg after their graduation, this is also an important criterium.
In this case you can upload a certificate of your grade from your Bachelor’s degree. If you are still in you bachelors, then you do not need to upload any certificate.
Motivation and commitment are key! Show us why is it that you want to participate in the Career Certificate and how would you benefit from it. Furthermore, showing your commitment to building a career path in the region and overcoming the hurdles is a confirmation for us that you deserve a spot.
In order to get in the Career Certificate program your German proficiency has to be at least A2. We want to offer you the most profitable experience from our program content. With a proficiency under A2, a lot of it would be lost since the language barrier is too large.
Yes, in order to make the best benefit of the program we only accept students with at least A2 German proficiency.
No. The placement test is a part of the evaluation process to get a spot in the German course. You still have to register for the German course, after taking part in the placement test, according to your test results (i.e. Placement Test = A2.2 then German course = A2). We cannot guarantee a spot for you, since we work with first come, first serve.
Yes, this program is open for bachelor and Master students.
Yes, you can apply again for the next batch. Meanwhile you can participate in the other workshops offered by the International Career Service to improve your soft skills and knowledge about the career world.
The C-Test is used to assess the language skills of both beginners and advanced learners. It consists of cloze texts. The C-Test is a globally recognized test procedure.
There are 25 gaps in each text. You are not expected to be able to fill in all the gaps, as this would be the level of native speakers. Do not be concerned if you leave gaps.
No. You can still use the result from your placement test that you took this semester or previously to that.
If you are currently enrolled or have participated in a German course offered by the International Career Service or the University´s Language Centre and got your language certificate, then you don´t need a placement test. If you have only participated in a German course outside the University or haven´t successfully received your language certificate, then you need to take a placement test.
As a part of this certificate, the German course is a very important and mandatory step, including the intensive course. Exceptions will only be made after a thorough evaluation of each personal situation.
The courses will be held on site.
Yes and no. We have two kinds of participation´s certificate for the program:
- You participate in at least 80% of all the events and workshops + the 1 week of summer/winter school.
- You only participate in a few workshops and therefore are not eligible to participate in the summer/winter school.
The certificate you will receive at the end comprehend therefore all of the events that you participated in after the two semesters.
