Your future starts now! – benefits of the program

The main benefit of this program is to prepare you as an international Master student for the transition from our university to the German job market. The program involves several different components that will help you develop main key elements. The theorie and practice to these elements are divided into the German course and the Summer school.

German course

The German course is the first phase of the Career Certificate. Here the international students will reach one proficiency level further by taking an intensive course for about 2 weeks and continuing the level during the semester. At the end they are able to take the proficiency level test to receive the language certificate issued by the Sprachenzentrum (Language center) from the university Magdeburg.

Language proficiency

German language course to improve your proficiency in one level! One of the most important key elements is your German language proficiency. By improving this element, your chances to find a job and feel more comfortable here automatically improve significantly. Not only will you strengthen your linguistic knowledge, but also your grammar and cultural aspects of the German language.

Summer school

The Summer School is the perfect opportunity for the international students to imerse in the key elements described below. The theorie and practice will be transfered through valuable 'in presence' workshops with qualified trainer and coaches. After two intensive weeks of training the students will have gained not only expertise and know-how on the subjects but will be more confident about initiating their career path.

Personal Development

By this key element, you will learn more about yourself and on how to develop your soft skills. Additionally, you will learn how to appear more self-confident in life and at work. Another important aspect is to learn how to “market yourself” efficiently and effectively, allowing you to appear more interesting on the German job market and in your job interviews.

Career Orientation

This element aims to find a career for yourself and prospecting your pathway to success. To achieve this, you will learn more about the German job market and how to tailor your application documents for job ads in Germany. Also, you will receive training for job interviews to be better prepared.

German job market & networking

Graduating and finding a job in a foreign country can be difficult. Also, a foreign work culture can be intimidating at first. Within this key element, you will learn more about necessary and important legal information and familiarize with the German work culture. Additionally, you will be able to network with potential partners and companies through the Ambassador´s program of the OVGU which will allow you to transition to a local job faster.

Additional benefits

There are some additional benefits granted to those who are actively taking part in the program, such as an excursion through the beautiful Saxony-Anhalt, a professional photo shot for your CV, OVGU merch and more!

Concluding the Career Certificate Program

The active and successful participation on the Career Certificate program assures the international students not only the benefits of personal and professional development but in the end they will also receive a Certificate issued by the University Magdeburg so they can add it to their CV. This is a huge plus for the internationals since they will outstand their competition when applying for jobs.
