In the Master's programme in Statistics, students acquire advanced knowledge in mathematical statistics and statistical methodology as well as in various specialisation areas. In addition, students are taught in-depth knowledge of one or more sub-areas of statistics or their application in a specialisation area, which is close to the current state of research. In the specialisation area, concepts and applications of statistics from various disciplines such as economics, computer science, engineering sciences or medicine can be chosen. The knowledge acquired in the degree programme enables students to successfully deal with research-related questions in statistics itself as well as complex statistical problems from practice.

Career Perspectives

The degree programme qualifies students for an independent, demanding professional activity, e.g. in industrial research and development, in drug development, in the supervision of medical studies, in the area of finance and insurance, in information technology or in public administration. Furthermore, it provides the basis for further academic qualification within the framework of a doctorate.

The Master's programme in Statistics is aimed at students with a strong interest in statistical methods and their applications. The programme is suitable for graduates of Bachelor's degree programmes in mathematics or statistics. However, it is also open to graduates of other Bachelor's degree programmes with a statistical-methodological focus, such as economics and business administration, psychology, computer science or physics. You can find more information on the admission modalities in this case here.
