Re-registering after the 10th semester

The extension to the standard study duration brought about by the pandemic also applies to enrolled doctoral students who were enrolled or newly enrolled in the summer semester 2020 and/or winter semester 2020/21 and/or the summer semester 2021 and/or winter semester 2021/22.

Doctoral students who now wish to re-register for the 11th, 12th, 13th or 14th semester may re-register for the summer semester 2022 or the winter semester 2022/23 without applying additionally for an extension. For newly enrolled students in the summer semester 2020, winter semester 2020/21, summer semester 2021 or winter semester 2021/22, this regulation applies accordingly in later re-registration phases.

  • Enrolled in the summer semester 2020, winter semester 2020/21, summer semester 2021 and winter semester 2021/22 = extension of the standard study duration by 4 semesters
  • Enrolled in the winter semester 2020/21, summer semester 2021 and winter semester 2021/22  = extension of the standard study duration by 3 semesters
  • Enrolled in the summer semester 2021 and winter semester 2021/22 = extension of the standard study duration by 2 semesters
  • Newly enrolled in the winter semester 2021/22 = extension of the standard study duration by 1 semester

You can continue to use the form for the 7th to 10th semesters for re-registration.

Please note that here too, a short justification by the supervisor must still be provided in the form.

For a re-registration beyond the standard study duration + pandemic extension, an informal application for extension of your enrollment (incl. statement by the supervisor) must be submitted to Prof. Susanne Schmidt in the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs ().
