In the Walter Benjamin Programme, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) also supports refugee researchers in applying for a position at a German research institution.
Funding scope: |
- Maximum of 2 years Duration
- Postdoctoral position
- Employment at a research institution financed by the DFG
- Material cost allowance of 250 EUR per month

Eligibility to apply:
|
- No previous availability of comparable position in the research system
- No restriction with regard to career stage
- No receipt of other funding for refugee researchers in Germany
- At the time of application, they have not been outside their home country for more than three years.
- There is a residence status in connection with an asylum procedure within the EU which shows a recognised risk, or credible proof of risk from a third party, e.g. documentation by the Scholars at Risk Network (SAR) or the Council for At-Risk Academics (CARA), is submitted no more than 12 months before the application is submitted
