Welcome to OVGU! The sessions will help you prepare for the start of your studies at OVGU and for your stay in Magdeburg. All online sessions are offered in English. Presentations will be uploaded afterwards.

 

Studying at OVGU

Your Path to Enrollment

The first session is offered by the International Student Registration Office. It provides information about the enrollment process, options in case of late arrival, about the online portal myOVGU (university account activation, student email, certificate of enrollment), the collection of your student ID and the "Deutschlandticket".

This webinar will introduce you to the academic culture in Germany and at OVGU. Germany Basics for International Newcomers

This compact workshop offers a practical introduction to German cultural standards, making the transition to university and everyday life easier. Topics include communication rules, common teamwork expectations, behavioral  norms in academic and professional settings, and infuential values. The interactive session includes case studies, short exercises, and time for questions.

Organizing your Stay in Magdeburg

Tips for Living in Magdeburg

The information session covers topics for daily life in Magdeburg. It includes guidance on using public transport with the "Deutschlandticket", tips on finding accommodation and suitable areas to live in as a student, tenant obligations and information about the broadcast fee. Join the Zoom for practical everyday essentials like information on the deposit system ("Pfand"), public holidays, waste separation and emergency contacts.

Health Insurance & Healthcare in Germany

Well prepared for your studies – Health insurance in Germany (Techniker Krankenkasse)

Questions like “How do I receive the M10 notification from TK for my university for enrollment? What are the regulations for EU-students and non-EU-students regarding health insurance? How does the German healthcare system work? What can I use my insurance card for, and which benefits are covered?” will be answered in these regular information sessions.
