Award for research work on gender and equal opportunities
Magdeburg. Saxony-Anhalt is awarding the Gender Research Prize 2024, once again recognizing outstanding theses that deal with gender perspectives and gender inequality. The Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs, Health and Equality, together with the state's Coordination Office for Gender Research and Equal Opportunities (KGC), has announced this award for dissertations/habilitations, master's and state examination theses as well as bachelor's theses, scientific publications and artistic and creative works at universities in Saxony-Anhalt. The aim of the prize, which is endowed with up to 2,000 euros, is to make research achievements on gender aspects visible and to promote young academics and artists.
Equal Opportunities Minister Petra Grimm-Benne said: "Young academics at universities make important contributions to analyzing gender stereotypes in an unagitated manner and breaking down gender stereotypes on the basis of facts. These impulses are indispensable for our common path towards actual equality. With the Gender Research Award, we are recognizing the social and gender equality policy significance of gender research and at the same time building a bridge between science and gender equality policy in our country."
Morena Groll from the KGC emphasized: "Gender perspectives promote justice, innovation and progress by questioning supposed certainties and taking diverse perspectives into account. In science, art and design, addressing gender issues closes gaps in knowledge and creates new approaches for a fairer, more inclusive and more progressive society. The award is intended to make these important contributions from Saxony-Anhalt visible and recognize them."
