What should I do if I have a Corona infection?

31.01.2023 -

Fortunately, corona illnesses have faded very much into the background in view of the high proportion of other colds or flu cases. As of January 31, 2023, the Corona isolation requirement in Saxony-Anhalt has also been lifted.

Nevertheless, employees or people around them still fall ill with Corona and many wonder what regulations now apply at the university.

In almost all areas, the mask obligation has been removed and there are also no longer any specifications that mobile work must be offered. So how should employees behave in the event of an infection?

As a general rule, you should not come to work with cold symptoms if there is a risk of infecting other employees. As a rule, you are not fit for work in this case anyway and should take all the usual measures to recover quickly. In milder cases, mobile work may also be appropriate if the job allows it. Please coordinate this with your supervisor. Otherwise, a certificate of incapacity for work is required from the 3rd calendar day.

If you are ill with Corona, the same procedure applies.

If there are no (more) symptoms of illness, but the test is (still) positive, there is no incapacity for work. In these cases, mobile work must be arranged if the work task is suitable for this. Alternatively, it must be checked whether an individual workplace is available or can be offered. If this is also not given, it is recommended that a mask be worn to protect oneself and others. This should also be done if a close relative has tested positive.

In consultation with superiors, the existing instruments should be used sensibly and with a sense of proportion. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our colleagues in Corporate Health Management (in German).
