Objectives

The degree programme enables students to expand their knowledge and competences acquired in their first professional degree programme (e.g. BA degree programme) in a research-oriented manner and to deepen them in the field of media education. Students acquire a critical understanding of the most important theories, principles and methods of media education and educational media research, and they learn to deepen their knowledge in a case- and project-related manner. Graduates are able to analyse, conceive, design and evaluate (media and media-enriched) learning and educational environments as well as to realise and manage their own projects for different contexts.

Career Perspectives

The Master's programme qualifies students for further qualification in the academic field (doctorate) as well as for development, research and management activities in various professional fields in which media or media forms of communication are important. The knowledge and competences acquired in the study programme form the basis for the development and implementation of own research or practical projects, for example for the diagnosis of learning and educational conditions or for the analysis, conception, design and evaluation of various forms of media communication, as well as for the planning and management of complex project contexts.

Competencies and Interests Required

Prior knowledge of media informatics is desirable. Students without this prior knowledge take 2 modules in Media Informatics in the Master Media Education. Students should also have internship or project experience in the media sector.
