Unsere Mitarbeiter erforschen die immunologischen Mechanismen, die zum Schwangerschaftserfolg führen. Da der Fetus das Fortpflanzungsprodukt histoinkompatibler Individuen darstellt, wurde in den letzten Jahren ein Vergleich der Schwangerschaft mit einem erfolgreichen Transplantat angestellt. Fehlgeburt und Präeklampsie können aus diesem Grund mit "Toleranzstörungsphänomenen" assoziiert werden. Unsere Hauptprojekte befassen sich mit dem Studium von Toleranzmechanismen in Mausmodellen für beide Krankheiten und die Untersuchung von therapeutischen Ansätzen, die Toleranzmechanismen auslösen sollen. Wir untersuchen auch in in vitro Systeme, wie z.B. die Trophoblasten Zelllinien Rcho-1 und JEG-3, zelluläre und molekulare Mechanismen, welche die Akzeptanz des Fötus im mütterlichen Uterus erlauben.Wir verwenden molekularbiologische und immunologische Methoden wie Immunhistochemie (IHC), Western Blot, Real Time RT-PCR, Durchflusszytometrie u.a.
