Die Arbeitsgruppe klinische Bildgebung (L. Tozzi, H. McCarthy, Prof. Dr. Frodl) hat umfangreiche Erfahrungen in der strukturellen, funktionellen und Diffusionsbildgebung bei Depressionen, Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung (ADHS) und Schizophrenie einschließlich des Einflusses genetischer und epigenetischer Faktoren (imaging genetics).
Neuroimmunologische Fragestellungen an Liquor- und Blutproben sowie an histologischen Präparaten der Magdeburger Hirnbank auch in Kombination mit der MRT werden in der Arbeitsgruppe Biologische Psychiatrie (Prof. Dr. Steiner) untersucht, um invasive sowie nicht invasive Marker für entzündliche und immunologische Korrelate der psychiatrischen Störungen feststellen zu können und um z.B. eine gestörte Blut-Hirnschranke, die mit einer höheren Wahrscheinlichkeit eines immunologischen ZNS Prozesses einhergeht, diagnostisch darstellen zu können.
Die Arbeitsgruppe psychiatrische Verhaltensneurowissenschaften (PD Dr. Schiltz) fokussiert auf Fragestellungen der forensischen Neurowissenschaften, Schizophrenie und Alterungsprozesse sowie Demenz. Zu diesem Zweck werden integrative Ansätze unter Anwendung komplementärer Techniken wie Bildgebung, Elektrophysiologie, Verhaltensdaten und immunologischen sowie metabolischen Daten verwendet.
Tiefe Hirnstimulation bei Alkoholabhängigkeit (Dr. U. Müller)
Die Arbeitsgruppe Psychiatrische Epidemiologie und Versorgungsforschung (PD Dr. med. Axel Genz) untersucht das Bedingungsgefüge suizidaler Handlungen in der Stadt Magdeburg und die Erfordernisse psychiatrischer und psychotherapeutischer Mitbehandlungen in somatischen Fachabteilungen des Universitätsklinikums.
In der näheren Zukunft werden die genannten Forschungsschwerpunkte durch die Besetzung der W2-Professur für translationale Psychiatrie mit Schwerpunkt bildgebende Verfahren verstärkt. Die Professur befindet sich derzeit in der Ausschreibungsphase.
