Der Lehrstuhl für Technische Thermodynamik (LTT) unter Leitung von Prof. Beyrau ist an der Otto-von-Guericke-Universität Magdeburg im Bereich Lehre und Forschung für alle Gebiete der Technischen Thermodynamik zuständig. Dies umfasst im Wesentlichen experimentelle Forschungsprojekte, die folgende Probleme untersuchen: reaktive und nichtreaktive Strömungen, motorische Verbrennungsprozesse, Konvektionsphänomene, Sprays sowie laminare und turbulente Flammen. Zur Charakterisierung dieser Prozesse werden schwerpunktmäßig moderne, laserbasierte Messverfahren eingesetzt und entwickelt.
