Research

The internationally collaborative key research priorities at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg lie in the Neurosciences and Dynamic Systems. The activities undertaken in these two areas come under the umbrella of the Science Campus Center for Behavioral Brain Sciences and the Center for Dynamic Systems respectively. The STIMULATE research campus brings together the research and development activities in Medical Technology. The focus of the Faculty of Medicine lies in the Immunology and Molecular Medicine of Inflammation and is concentrated in the Immunology, Infectology and Inflammation Health Campus. With their interdisciplinary orientation, the key research priorities benefit from long-term reinforcement from institutionalised cooperations with research facilities based in Magdeburg such as the Fraunhofer Institute for Factory Operation and Automation, the Max Planck Institute for the Dynamics of Complex Technical Systems, the Leibniz Institute for Neurobiology, and the German Centre for Neurodegenerative Diseases.

As a catalyst and driver of innovation, both in the region and well beyond, the University of Magdeburg pursues innovative strategies for reinforcing the transfer of technology and knowledge in regional and international enterprises. The key areas of research transfer are Medical Technology, Automotive, Digital Engineering, Fluidised Bed Technology and Renewable Energies. Affiliated institutes and the University's Technology Transfer Centre act as intermediaries between academia and industry. They facilitate access for businesses to the University's research resources and strengthen their ability to innovate.
