Welcome to Magdeburg

IAESTE Magdeburg will care for you as trainee during your whole stay in Magdeburg. We will try to help you with all problems which may occur during your stay here in Magdeburg. So do not hesitate to contact us. But of course we hope that you will have rather fun here in Magdeburg than problems. Please note the checklist prior to your departure.
We are glad to welcome you to Magdeburg as an IAESTE trainee.
We do our work for IAESTE because we are interested in meeting and talking to people from other parts of the world - just like you! So we are highly encouraged to make your stay as comfortable and as much fun as possible. The reception crew plans interesting activities and you are welcome to participate!
In addition to experience on the job this traineeship should give you the possibility for a closer insight into the German society and our way of life. What is IAESTE?

The International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience (IAESTE A.s.b.l) is an Association of National Committees representing Academic, Industrial and Student interests. Each Member and Co-operating Institution is responsible for the administration of the exchange in its own country.

History of IAESTE

IAESTE was founded in 1948 in London and has been around the world over 300000 students in more than 85 countries. Since 1950 Germany is a member of the IAESTE program and is supported by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Structure of IAESTE

In each member country has a National Committee (NC) and many Local Committee (LC) at universities. In Germany, the National Committee is represented by the DAAD (the German Academic Exchange Service). IAESTE is supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Science and the Foreign Office. Locally, the local committee of dedicated students of the universities are formed. Where this is not possible, the International office perceive the duties of IAESTE.
