ERASMUS Mundus - Exchange with Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Kirgisistan, Uzbekistan, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan
The ERASMUS Mundus External Co-operation Window (EM ECW) is a mobility grant
programme of the European Commission which aims for mutual benefit and better
understanding between EU and non-EU countries.
The OvGU has been participating in the programme since the winter semester of
2009/2010. The whole network consists of 20 universities and colleges from 14
different countries. The project is coordinated by the Erasmushogeschool in
Brussels; the International Office of the OvGU is responsible for the local
coordination in Magdeburg.
This is a cooperation between universities in Europe and universities in Central Asia
- Kazakhstan, Kirgisistan, Uzbekistan, Tadzhikistan, Turkmenistan.
The mobility grants for students, doctoral and post doctoral candidates can be
awarded for 6-34 months. The exchange of lecturers and academic staff is
subsidised for 1-3 months.
The monthly amounts of the grants are:
1000 € for students
1500 € for doctoral candidates
1800 € for post-doctoral candidates
2500 € for lecturers and academic staff
Eligible for application are students, scientists and staff of the OvGU. The grants can
be used for studies, research and working visits at selected partner institutions of
the network.
Eligible for application from Central Asian countries are all members of the partner
institutions who fulfil the prerequisites for the mobility grant.
The following faculties and study programmes of the OvGU participate in EM ECW:
Faculty of Process Engineering
Faculty of Economics
Faculty of the Humanities, Social Sciences and Education
(particularly: Degree course Peace and Conflict Research)
