1. EU - Educational Programme for Lifelong Learning (LLP)
With the new EU - programme for Lifelong Learning - short LLP (duration 2007-2013) - a new generation of programmes for transnational cooperation in different areas of general education begins. It covers four partial programmes:

Eligible are the 27 member countries of the EU as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Turkey. Moreover, the programme is open for Switzerland and the Western Balkan States.
2. ERASMUS at a glance
ERASMUS supports the following activities:
1. Mobility activities (individuals):
These programmes are centrally administrated by DAAD and submitted and coordinated by the International Office.
2. Multilateral projects (projects with partners from at least 3 countries):
- development of curricula
- university and economy
- modernisation of higher education
- virtual campus

3. ERASMUS at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg
Since 1991 the OvGU MD has been participating in this programm and in 2003 it received the ERASMUS University Charter for the first time. It contains all the principles that apply for the ERASMUS-activities. Eligible in the ERASMUS-programme are just those universities that possess this Charter. Currently the OvGU MD is cooperating with more than 100 Erasmus-partners in the fields of student and teaching staff rmobility and development of curricula.

5. ERASMUS-objectives at the Otto-von-Guericke-University Magdeburg
1. Internationalisation in teaching:
- to increase the number of internationally developed curricula on all levels
- to imcrease teaching staff mobility and of the international capacity of teaching
- to increase of student mobility
- to intensify cooperations with Central- and Eastern-European countries
2. The expansion of the cooperation with non-university institutions and enterprises
- financial support of practical training abroad
- academic employees abroad as "training period"
3. Internationalisation in the fields of organisational- and human resource development
- financial support of temporary amployment abroad of administrative personnel as "study visits"
- activities in human resource development
- to increase the participation in multilateral projects and intensiv programmes
